The alleged heist of an undisclosed amount of cash occurred on April 26 at Fulton Bank in Voorhees Township, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Voorhees Township Police Chief Louis Bordi.
One of the suspects was arrested at his home in Camden County last month, while the second was arrested in Philadelphia on Monday, Mayer and Bordi said in a statement.
Jermaine Johnson, 43, of Haddonfield, NJ, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Fugitive Task Force on May 18, according to the statement.
He was charged with first-degree robbery and weapons offenses. He was being held at Camden County Jail awaiting trial.
His 23-year-old son, Safeek Johnson, of Philadelphia, reportedly was arrested on Monday by U.S. Marshals at the intersection of Rockland and Old York roads in Philadelphia, the statement said.
The younger Johnson was in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest, according to the prosecutor. He also was charged with first-degree robbery and weapons offenses in connection with the alleged bank robbery, the statement said.
The son was being held in Philadelphia pending extradition to New Jersey, the prosecutor said.
On April 26, Voorhees police were called to Fulton Bank on Haddonfield-Berlin Road on a report of an armed robbery, according to the statement.
The teller reportedly told police that a man entered the bank shortly after 11 a.m. armed with a handgun and went into the vault area, the prosecutor said.
The man left the bank with a large amount of cash from the vault, the prosecutor said.
Surveillance photos showed a man wearing black and white New Balance sneakers, black pants with two thin, white stripes down the sides, a black camouflage hoodie and a tan backpack, Mayer and Bordi said in their statement.
Authorities did not release any more details about the alleged robbery or suspects.
